A Musculoskeletal (MSK) MRI is specialized in obtaining images of your bones, joints and muscles. This is a valuable medical exam that uses magnetic fields and radio frequencies to generate detailed anatomical images. MRI scans have been performed safely and successfully for over twenty years. MRI exams are performed when people are ill or injured, or when a doctor suspects a medical problem that cannot be detected easily with a routine physical examination. MSK MRIs are often ordered by a general practitioner or an orthopedist for further diagnoses.
