Robert L. Helmer, MD, MS received his bachelor’s degree from Hanover College in southern Indiana. He holds a Masters degree from Indiana University in Physiology and Biophysics. He earned his medical degree from Indiana University. Following medical school, Dr. Helmer served five years in the U. S. Navy as a Flight Surgeon following a Transitional Internship at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. After his military career, he completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology and a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology at Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Helmer is certified by the American Board of Radiology with a subspecialty in orthopedic imaging.
